Microsoft Systems Engineer - SME (TS clearance required)

Competitive Innovations (CI), founded in 1999, is seeking a full-time Microsoft subject matter expert (SME) to serve as Lead Infrastructure Engineer supporting a federal law enforcement agency onsite in Washington, DC.  This position monitors and troubleshoots critical applications in a complex, dynamic environment applying hands-on technical expertise.  Working as part of a team, responsibilities include:
  • Identify, analyze and resolve complex issues across systems and applications
  • Provide guidance on best practices and deployment of Microsoft (MS) solutions
  • Manage an enterprise Microsoft .NET application running in a MS Windows Server 2016 environment that includes Internet Information Server (IIS) and MS SQL servers operating in compliance with the Federal Security Technical Implementation Guide (“STIG”)  
  • Provide pilot testing and documentation for development efforts
  • Configure and manage Active Directory including Group Policy Objects (GPO); McAfee Antivirus and firewall policy management
  • Participate in annual continuity of operations (COOP) exercise including web and Microsoft SQL database server
  • Configure Microsoft Web server including Active Directory, ISS and Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
  • Administer Microsoft (IIS, SQL, and Active Directory) infrastructure environment
  • Provide continuous proactive maintenance, auditing, and monitoring of hardware and software utilizing enterprise-wide monitoring and logging solutions
  • Problem-solve issues within the VMware vSphere

  • Active Top Secret clearance (or higher). Interim clearances are not acceptable for this program.  Candidate will be required to take a Counterintelligence (CI) Poly, though not needed prior to start.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, Information Technology or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • 8+ years of Microsoft Technology experience 
  • Experience with Federal security hardening, STIG compliance, DOD or equivalent hardening documentation and technical architectures 
  • Working knowledge of and familiarity with the FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) Authority to Operate (ATO) process and procedures 
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure or Amazon GovCloud a plus  
  • Current Microsoft Certifications a plus 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service
